During the 1971-72 academic year, Chief Engineer Gordon Klein and Engineer Lea Jewett designed and built an automation system to give WRCR programming duirng the day. It started at 9am after the Morning Show and continued until late afternoon when live programming would resume.
The automation system used a Revox reel-to-reel tape maching and a Criterion cart machine (seen at the top of the equipment rack). On air contest named the automation system OSCAR...Occasionaly Silent Criterion And Revox.
